🌼International Exchange at Leimond Ikaruga Nursery School🌏
On July 28, our students visited the 5-year-old class at Leimond Ikaruga Nursery School for a cultural exchange 😊
First, everyone practiced how to say “hello” in Nepali and Bengali, greeting each other with cheerful smiles:
“Namaste!” and “Assalamu Alaikum!” 🙌🌏
The children also enjoyed a quiz featuring unique vegetables, fruits, and traditional dishes from Nepal and Bangladesh that are not commonly seen in Japan. They enthusiastically called out, “I think it’s ○!” and “No, I think it’s ×!”, bringing smiles to our students’ faces as well 😊🍆🥭🍛
After that, everyone split into small groups and spent time together drawing pictures, folding origami, playing with Kapla blocks, and reading picture books 📖🎨🧩
The children especially loved trying the traditional Nepali game “Tungi.” ✨
In this game, a small ball made of rubber bands is repeatedly kicked into the air using the feet, and players compete to see who can keep it up the longest ⚽
“It looks just like soccer!” the children exclaimed with excitement 😄
To finish the day, everyone held hands and danced together to Nepali music 🎵💃🕺
The children and our students shared many wonderful smiles throughout the activity 😊✨
Although it was time to say goodbye, our students returned to school with warm memories after hearing the children say, “Please come again!” 🌸
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone at Leimond Ikaruga Nursery School for giving us this wonderful opportunity! 💐
