π New Year Cultural Exchange at Leimond-hills Nursery School β¨
On Friday, December 19, Class 3 students visited Leimond-hills Nursery School, a fellow member of the SIPs group!
The theme of the visit was βNew Year celebrations in each otherβs countries.β ππ
π
The children were divided into two teams and introduced Japanese New Year traditions.
The βHow We Celebrate the New Yearβ team gave lively presentations on Hatsumode (the first shrine visit of the year), New Year greetings, New Yearβs cards, and otoshidama (New Yearβs gift money).
The βFood teamβ explained kagami mochi and osechi dishes in an easy-to-understand way using photos and handmade materials βΊοΈ
Everything was fresh and fascinating, and the students were constantly saying, βWow!β π
Howdy students also introduced New Year celebrations in Nepal, Bangladesh, and France.
Everyone was surprised to learn that the New Year in Nepal and Bangladesh is celebrated in April! π«’
We also discovered similarities, such as the French game β1, 2, 3 Soleil,β which is similar to the Japanese game Daruma-san ga Koronda π
Even though our countries are different, the importance of celebrating the New Year is something we all share β¨
In the second half, it was time to play! We enjoyed karuta, building blocks, and relay games, creating a time filled with smiles and laughter β¨ Thank you to everyone at Leimond-hills Nursery School for such a warm and joyful exchange π
